SteadyFeet® balance and mobility classes start September

SteadyFeet® Balance & Mobility classes are taught by BCRPA certified fitness instructors specially trained by Vancouver Coastal Health’s Fall & Injury Prevention Program in how to deliver balance and mobility SteadyFeet_VCH_RGB_Vertexercises for older adults.

These classes take place only at approved community partner locations, and are designed to be safe for individuals who:

  • are struggling with balance
  • have a history of falls
  • are afraid of falling
  • have had a joint replacement
  • have osteoporosis
  • are not steady enough for a cardiac rehab program
  • are managing a variety of health conditions
  • need to improve their strength, mobility and balance to maintain their independence

Who should take SteadyFeet® Classes?

Most participants range in age from 65-95 years old, but there are no specific age requirements to participate in the class. Participants must be able to ambulate independently, but walking aids (canes, walkers) may be used in class as needed.

Classes start in September, so be sure to encourage clients to register now to make sure they get a spot. They can register directly through the community centre offering classes. Dates, times and prices vary depending on location.
