Clay Adams was appointed Vice President of Communications & Public Affairs in 2006, and is now leaving VCH.

Communications and Public Affairs leadership change

It was announced earlier this week that due to a possible restructuring of the VCH Communications & Public Affairs (C&PA) function, and resulting changes to the role of the Vice President of Communications & Public Affairs, Clay Adams, ABC, APR, will be leaving VCH.

Clay is well known across the organization and was a founding member of the communications team when VCH was established in 2001. He was appointed Vice President of Communications & Public Affairs in 2006. In the years since, Clay has led the team to earn numerous international awards and honours, including recognition as the worldwide “Not for Profit Communications Department of the Year” in 2017 by the International Association of Business Communicators.

Clay has an outstanding reputation as one who has significantly advanced the reputation and profile of our health authority among employees, media, government, and external stakeholders. His last day with VCH will be Friday, April 6, 2018. Laurie Dawkins, Director of Corporate Communications, will step into the role of Vice President of Communications and Public Affairs on an interim basis while  decisions are made about next steps in leadership of the C&PA team.

Thank you for all your support since I started at VCH in 2015 working for the best communications department ever (OK, it’s my first comms department job). You don’t know how much it meant to me knowing you were just a phone call away when I needed guidance or advice on a sticky issue (or just a plain wordsmithing problem.) Any issue – big or small – you were there! Priceless in my book.

It’s been a pleasure working with you over the past 13+ years, Clay, even in the middle of an emergency or front-page media story! I’ve learned so much from you, and always enjoyed your quick wit, and crazy disco dancing skills. G’day mate!
