Upcoming changes to accessing phone interpreters

Starting May 1, 2018, phone menu options for interpreting services will change.  Staff will notice that the phone menu for the Provincial Language Service (PLS) has been updated to expedite immediate connection to phone interpreting services.  The new phone menu will include the following options:

During office hours

During Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

  • New: press 1 to be connected to a phone interpreter
  • Press 2 for all other interpreting service inquiries
  • Press 3 for francophone services

Outside office hours

  • New: press 1 to be connected to a phone interpreter
  • Press 2 for all other interpreting service inquiries
  • Press 3 to leave a Voicemail
  • Press 4 for Francophone services

New feature details

If you press 1 for a phone interpreter, you will then be provided 2 options:

  • Press 1 if you know your access code
  • Press 2 if you do not know your access code

This change allows for easier access to phone interpreters. Staff will connect to a phone interpreter by using their program or clinic’s unique access code.
