Making spirits bright

Thanks to a generous donation from the VGH Thrift Shop, every Banfield resident has a present from Santa this year.

The Thrift Shop donated $2,000 towards the purchase of Christmas gifts for the 156 residents living at Banfield Pavilion. For some residents, this may be the only gift they receive this holiday season.

Banfield activity workers handpicked each resident’s gift, ensuring all residents receive something special and unique to what they may need or enjoy.

Emily Julian, a Banfield resident, artist and Mini Sun Run competitor, is particularly fond of cats. So she was tickled pink when she unwrapped her present to find a 2015 cat calendar, as well as a picture frame for one of her paintings.

Santa Claus delivers all gifts at Banfield’s annual Christmas luncheon, a festive event where family members join in the fun and enjoy a turkey meal with all the fixings.
