Aboriginal Health Strategic Initiatives is collaborating with the VCH ReAct Adult Protection Program to host a region-wide professional development session regarding adult abuse, neglect and self-neglect response on the afternoon of March 5th. A First Nations ReAct manual and tools will be the focal point of this video-conferenced session.
This afternoon workshop is open to all VCH staff and health and wellness practitioners in First Nations and Aboriginal communities. Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal staff and community members are welcome throughout the VCH Region.
The First Nations ReAct materials are intended to be used to facilitate dialogues, workshops and education events to raise awareness and coordinate community responses to abuse and neglect of older or vulnerable adults. The afternoon will be spent looking over the available resources and discussing case examples of how to intervene appropriately in cases of neglect or abuse.
Please check the VCH Events page in a week’s time f0r listings of all of the video-conferencing sites included in this session.
