VCH will soon welcome nine new nurse practitioners to its health care team, bringing the total number working in the region to 49. These nurse practitioners will work in a variety of primary health care settings including medical clinics, community care facilities and First Nations’ health services.
The nurse practitioners have been approved for the following locations:
- Tla’Amin Health Centre on the Sliammon First Nation reserve – Powell River – North Sunshine Coast
- Stl’atl’lmx Health Society – Pemberton
- South Vancouver Birth Program
- Spectrum Health HIV
- United Church Services Medical Clinic – Bella Coola
- Vancouver Community: Clinical Tenant Support Team
- Vancouver Community: Home Vive
- Vancouver Community: Vancouver Inner City
Three nurse practitioners will join Providence Health Care at:
- Community Dialysis Units located across the Lower Mainland and the Sunshine Coast
- Crosstown Clinic – Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside
- The Inner City Youth Mental Health Program – Downtown Vancouver core
Over the next three years, 190 new nurse practitioner positions will be created across the province thanks to $22.2-million in funding from the Ministry of Health.
