“Thank you for making it feel like home”
On behalf our mother, I am writing to let you know of the excellent care and attention she received while at Richmond Lions Manor (RLM).
Our mother lived in the interior of BC for most of her life and came to Vancouver a few years ago to spend Christmas with her family. Unfortunately, she became ill and had to be rushed to Richmond Hospital. A few months later, she was transferred to RLM.
She was in the initial stages of dementia which worsened while she was at the hospital. As you can imagine, she was most unhappy and extremely agitated when she first went to RLM. The family was devastated and unsure of what to do. Everyone at RLM, from the Residential Care Manager, Kathy Wong, to Lori Macleod to the nursing staff and care aides on the 2nd floor (Nancy, in particular), the Rehab Leisure Assistants (Joanne, Rosemary, Jennifer), the physiotherapist (Amanda Hansen initially), Terry Krahn, Zarah Meherzad and the kitchen staff together with the secretaries Stephanie and Sheila, to name just a few, were most understanding.
They all took it upon themselves to make sure Anne got as much attention as needed and, on occasion, went out of their way to make her feel “at home”.
The up side to all this is that within 3 months, she was a much calmer person and by the time we moved her to Rosewood Manor (where she was waitlisted), she had come to enjoy her stay at RLM. I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the hairdresser, Sherry, who was so very patient with mom’s complaints.
I am sure I have missed naming a few people and to them my apologies. Our sincere and heartfelt thanks to everyone at Richmond Lions Manor.
