The Djavad Mowafaghian Centre for Brain Health will focus on education and prevention, early intervention and optimal treatment to promote rapid recovery.

Tunnel construction between UBC Hospital’s (UBCH) Koerner Pavilion and the Djavad Mowafaghian Centre for Brain Health (CBH) is right on schedule and nearing completion.  Preparations are now underway to re-open Koerner’s front entrances in phases. We anticipate the following developments on or about these dates:

  • September 5  – The north parking lot at the front of Koerner will reopen for inter-hospital shuttle and patient pick-up and drop-off.
  • September  17 – Our new front driveway and accompanying sidewalk will be complete and the main entrance will re-open.

Urgent Care Centre (UCC) patients are welcome to use the front main entrance when it reopens, or they may continue to use the alternative entrances. We anticipate an update on when we’ll re-open the UCC front entrance by September 13. Until then, the UCC registration desk will remain in the lobby, nearby Information and Admitting.

I’d like to thank everyone for their understanding and cooperation during tunnel construction. Sealing Koerner’s front entrances and driveway has allowed us to cut the tunnel’s construction time by half, limiting disruption to the slower summer months. Your support has helped make this possible.
