VCH programs pick up B.C. Quality Awards
This year, only six winners were given B.C. Quality Awards for “extraordinary work in our health system” and almost half of those winners were from Vancouver Coastal Health.
The Releasing Time to Care programs at Squamish General Hospital and Richmond Hospital won the award in the “Getting Better” category for improving the reliability, safety and efficiency of care for patients.
The Rapid Access to Consultative Expertise (RACE) program picked up the award for the “Living with Illness” category for creating an innovative model of care that allows family physicians quick access to specialists and specialty care for their patients.
This isn’t the first time VCH has won the esteemed award. Last year, VGH’s Pre-surgical Decolonization team won the “Getting Better” award for significantly reducing surgical site infections.
The B.C. Quality Awards were launched in 2009 and recognizes individuals, health care teams and facilities that have implemented measures, or engaged in initiatives, to improve the quality of care in BC.
