Letter of thanks from Wendy Bowles
When one door closes, another opens; but we often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door that we do not see the one that has opened for us. – Alexander Graham Bell
It may seem odd that I am sending this out to so many, many of whom may not even know me, but I want to say thank you to all the staff I have come across over the years. From nurses to porters to doctors and kitchen staff, all the allied staff to spiritual care, from lab personnel to those that help me park my car, every single area has provided me with an interaction that made a difference in my day. VGH has been my home away from home since 1988 and I am finally moving on to other things. It takes both wisdom and humility to know when it is time to go, but I will look back on my time at VGH with much fondness, for all the great moments and great people I have had the luck to work with over the years.
Bless all of you who will carry on here doing the good work. You may feel strained at times but you do make a difference, every day to those that come under your care. Be kind to them and to each other, remember your impact often goes far beyond what you can see.
