CST assesses how things are being done

On January 6, 2014, we entered phase two of the CST project, called Design, Build and Integrate, which will run for 18 months. Before we can design and create what we want in the future, the first step is to gain a better understanding into how we are doing things now through a Current State Assessment.

Current State Assessment now complete

Our Team IBM consulting partners have completed a series of short interviews, observations and focus groups at sites across the three health organizations, including VCH. The purpose was to observe current work processes and clinical practices across: Health Information Management, Scheduling/Registration, Emergency Services, Surgical Services, Patient Care, Medication Management and Radiology, to identify and understand:

  • current processes, protocols and workflows;
  • leading practices and current challenges;
  • existing technology in use; and
  • existing order sets and documentation.

In addition, we also gathered relevant existing reports and information (excluding patient-specific data).

Thank you to all of you who took part. Your dedication and support has and will continue to ensure that CST reaches its full potential.
