Bio: Laura Case

Laura-Case-Jun6-13With over 27 years of experience working in healthcare, Laura began her career as a registered nurse and psychiatric nurse providing care in a variety of settings including Emergency, Mental Health & Addictions, Home and Community Care and Pediatrics.

Laura holds a Bachelor Degree in Nursing, Masters Degree in Business Administration and a Graduate Certificate in Project Management.

Laura spent the first 25 years of her career in the Fraser Health Authority. Some leadership positions Laura held include: management positions in clinical operations in rural communities, Priority Access and Transitions to Community Services across 12 communities of care, Regional Director Positions in Systems Analysis & Performance Improvement and Program Access, Transitions & Utilization. In Fraser Health, Laura was involved in the development and implementation of fundamental initiatives now being implemented in VCH including: Home is Best and iCare.

Laura came to Vancouver Coastal Health in 2011 as an operations Director in MH&A. Some of Laura’s accomplishments include: Establishment of the Tertiary Mental Health Programs in Vancouver (Willow Pavilion, Willow Chest and BC Psychoses).  In 2012 Laura provided director leadership for the complete operational redesign of the BBY Center which is now well established as a center of excellence for clients with complex concurrent disorders in Canada.  In the spring of 2013 Laura took on the role of Executive Director, Vancouver Community and quickly demonstrated her skills and abilities in linking business principles with her deep understanding of operations to align services and programs to best meet the needs of our changing population.
