Move It!

The World Health Organization’s Move for Health Day falls on May 10th this year, and both the City of Richmond and VCH-Richmond are encouraging the community to make physical fitness a priority.

Move for Health Week 2014 – May 5 – 10th

The City of Richmond is partnering with a number of community partners – including VCH-Richmond – to celebrate international Move for Health Day (May 10) with a week-long campaign from May 5 – 10th to promote awareness of the benefits of healthy active living for people of all ages. Vancouver Coastal Health – Richmond is a co-sponsor of the event and Dr. James Lu, Richmond’s Medical Health Officer, is one of the leaders of the “Walk with Your Doc” event.

You can take part in free or low cost programming at community facilities across Richmond, participate in the corporate challenge to track your activity throughout the week and check out the Move for Health Festival on Saturday, May 10 from 11:00 am – 3:00 pm at Minoru Park. One of the highlights of this event is the “Walk with Your Doc” event, with our very own Dr. James Lu participating.

Community/Workplace Challenge

Did you know that being active for at least 150 minutes each week can help improve your health and fitness, strength and self-confidence?

All community members and workplaces are encouraged to be active during Move For Health Week by downloading and printing the Community/Workplace Challenge Activity Tracker. All completed charts will be displayed on the mural at the Move for Health Festival on May 10 at Minoru Park.
