CST Update for the of Week of May 5
Clinical & Systems Transformation will create a better healthcare experience for our patients by improving patient safety, lowering adverse events and medication errors and maximizing workflow improvements. How will CST do this? CST will do this by transforming clinical practices (to be evidence-informed and shared across VCH, PHSA and PHC) and technical systems (creating a common clinical information system). We’re on track.
Pulse
Are you wondering what design managers are saying about the project? This week, we heard from Serge Music, Technical Transformation, Project Manager. When asked what he loves about the CST Project, here’s what Serge had to say: “Being part of a large undertaking in a team, in a dynamic environment. Being part of transforming healthcare for our province. This is the first step toward having one health record per person.”
We want to hear from you. If you have a question or a comment please send us a message at info@cstproject.ca.
We’ve recently added the names of the CST project team members to our website. To learn more about the teams, please visit CSTproject.ca.
Design – CST holds its first integrated design sessions
The clinical design teams are in week 5 of the 26-week design phase. Phase 2 is currently 26% complete.
The first integrated design sessions were held last week. An integrated design session includes two or more design teams who work together to answer questions around specific processes. Each design team that is invited to an integrated design session divides its team members evenly amongst relevant breakout sessions based on their knowledge and expertise. These sessions also offer unique insights into possible technical solutions.
The strategies for testing, integration, data migration, infrastructure and devices are underway.
Scope statements have been developed for each of the technical teams, including the data management team, system integration team and technology infrastructure team.
CST recently launched a coaching program for design team managers. The purpose of the program is to ensure the managers are well supported in their design roles so that they may optimize the design process.
Governance committees are on track to make the 75 key decisions by June 2014. The majority of these decisions are currently made by the Clinical Decision Group and the Project Steering Committee and decisions will guide the continued work of the design teams.
