Nursing Week celebrations a great success!

May 12-16 2014 was National Nursing Week: “Nursing – a Leading Force for Change”.

Vancouver Community Professional Practice celebrated the ongoing hard work and dedication of our nurses by holding the annual Nursing Week event at VanDusen Botanical Garden on May 13. With a warm welcome from Lorraine Blackburn (Director of Vancouver Professional Practice) and Janice Lochbaum (Director of VC Home Health, Palliative Care and Hospice), nursing speakers from our diverse practice areas in community shared how they and their programs are leading change daily.

Jennifer Beaveridge, Annette Floyd, Anne Way, Ruth Legacy, Donna Quail and Jessica Whalen shared their poignant, touching, provocative, cutting edge, inspiring, and encouraging stories of how Vancouver Community nurses are promoting our profession and providing excellent care to our clients.

Vancouver Acute Services (at VGH) celebrated National Nursing Week with the popular “Nursing Week Marketplace” on May 15. It was lively area where all staff dropped in for some snacks and education. Various programs and upcoming projects were able to showcase their work via displays and highlighting current initiatives such as Eye Bank, roles for nurses within our organization, and future projects like 48/6.

We would like to thank all of the dedicated door prize donors, volunteers, speakers, exhibitors, and most of all – attendees and their supporting managers and directors for a successful afternoon!
