YMCA subsidy for VCH clients

Eliminating the barriers to physical activity is key to reducing the negative impacts of poverty on health. The YMCA of Greater Vancouver and Vancouver Coastal Health have partnered to provide financial assistance to low-income VCH clients so that everyone in our community can afford to be active with a YMCA membership:

  • VCH clients pay what they can afford. Up to 90% subsidy with a Access for All referral.
  • Full access to YMCA programs and services.
  • No proof of income required.

VCH staff now have two options for becoming “authorized” to refer low income clients and their families to receive YMCA membership subsidies. You can either complete the newly launched online tutorial or attend the in-person Access for All workshop which is offered every three months.

Here is the link to the online tutorial which takes about 10 minutes to complete. This tutorial is also a handy refresher if you have already attended the in-person workshop but would like a review of the Access for All referral process.

The next in-person workshop will be on Thurs Oct 2nd 2014 at Robert Lee YMCA and pre-registration through CCRS is required.
