Hospital evacuation presentation taking place November 10
In October 2012 during Hurricane Sandy, Dr. McStay was Chief of Service, Emergency Department at Bellevue Hospital, New York City, Bellevue, Manhattan’s largest public hospital.
The devastating impacts of the storm forced the unthinkable — an entire hospital evacuation (750+ patients discharged/transferred). Dr. Chris McStay will share how the hospital prepared and evacuated. He will also speak to how they opened and operated an EMS receiving freestanding Emergency Department until the hospital fully re-opened 100 days later.
