Concerts in Care brings music to Minoru Residents

Residents at Minoru had music brought into their homes at November’s end when classically trained harpist Janelle Nadeau performed to a crowded house.

Nadeau, a graduate of UBC with a major in Harp Performance, has won numerous awards and was a member of the National Youth Orchestra. Her Minoru concert included a personal contemporary repertoire, punctuated with several seasonal classics.

“These are my favourite kinds of concerts because we’re nice and close and I’m not hidden by an orchestra,” said Nadeau at the start of her afternoon performance.

Nadeau’s concert was one of 10 concerts brought into Minoru Residence this year via Concerts in Care, a Health Arts Society initiative that brings professional level music to people who are living in residential care and can no longer enjoy performances in theatres and concert halls.

The 2014 series of concerts was donated to Minoru Residence from the society with the 2015 series being paid for by the Richmond Hospital/Healthcare Auxiliary.
