The survey says…
Just before Christmas, you were asked to complete a short survey on the various communications vehicles (social media, VCH News, Up For Discussion, VCH.ca) we use in the organization. Well, close to 3,000 of you responded and we’ve compiled the results. Here are some of the highlights:
Audience
- 84% of those who responded are female
- 15% of those responded are male
- 4% of those who responded are between the ages of 45 and 64
- 49% of those who responded are between the ages of 25 and 44

- 45% want more in-person communications
- 36% want a mobile app
- 17% want more hardcopy materials
- 11% want more social media
VCH News
- 87% read VCH News on their work computer
- 16% read VCH News on Webmail at home
- 69% say they don’t read VCH News because they don’t have enough time
- 42% like articles about VCH experts talking about their specialty
- 36% like articles on awards and recognition
Social media
- 76% aren’t on social media
- 18% are on Facebook
- 7% are on LinkedIn
- And 7% are on Twitter
Up For Discussion blog
- 50% say the haven’t commented on the site because they don’t have enough time
- 26% say they haven’t commented on the site because they don’t feel comfortable expressing their opinion
Comments about the blog
- “Good to know what is happening and you can express your views and get to know others as well.”
- “I usually do. I enjoy reading the feedback in the comments section and seeing that I’m usually not the only one that thinks a certain way on many topics.”
- “Yes. It is interesting and comments posted are quite informative…gives more people presence.”
- “VCH is huge so it’s a great way to have to read about different perspectives.”
