We are still fighting the flu

The flu season may have peaked but the illness is still circulating. If you got your flu shot – great! If you didn’t, please remember to wear a mask while in patient care areas. The flu season doesn’t officially end until March 31 at the earliest.

Influenza still circulates in the spring months, and we generally see an increase in influenza B – and this year’s vaccine is a good match for the B strain.

Unfortunately, we have had a record number of outbreaks in long term care facilities this season and seniors are more susceptible to the flu.

You can help

Preventing the spread of influenza to our clients is a responsibility shared by staff, visitors and family members. The best way to protect yourself, your patients and your family members is by getting immunized. Much like wearing gloves and washing your hands, getting a flu shot is part of providing quality care. We have a commitment to protect our patients, clients and residents who look to us to create safe healthcare environments.
