Pink Shirt Day Team Selfie Contest winners announced!
We have to admit, it wasn’t easy to choose our winners from the forty ‘respectfully creative’ Pink Shirt Day photos we received from teams across VCH – but we are finally ready to acknowledge our two winning teams! Thanks to everyone who participated in the contest and showed their support towards creating a respectful workplace within their team.
Congratulations
Congratulations to the GF Strong Rehab Centre Team in Vancouver for winning the first prize of the Pink Shirt Day Team Selfie contest, a gift card to Craft Restaurant for their next team gathering! Nelia Quilala, Switchboard Operator, accepted the prize on behalf of her team and said, “Everyone deserves respect regardless of their origin, profession, job, gender or status. It’s important to remember that respect can never be bought but has to be earned.” This is important for all of us to remember and is the first respect tip in our new Respectful Workplace Poster for all staff and physicians. Congratulations team!
The second prize, a gift card to Rogue Restaurant, went to the Neuromuscular Disease unit at VGH. Each team member showed their commitment to creating a respectful workplace by wearing their VCH ‘Respect Starts Here’ shirt. If that isn’t enough pink, the nude coloured room and lighting even set a pink tone!
Shannen Sin, Medical Office Assistant, submitted the team photo and explained the value of a respectful workplace in providing the best care by saying, “Respect is imperative in our unit as VCH staff, private staff, technicians, nurses and physicians are all working closely together. In order to provide the best possible patient care, we all have to respect one another.” Well said Shannen! A respectful workplace creates a positive environment for everyone – staff, patients and the public.
Thanks again to everyone for coming together this Pink Shirt Day to take a stand against bullying at VCH.
