New nurse call system project begins at LGH

Work on a replacement for the existing nurse call system will begin next week within the LGH Acute Tower.

The new system, the Rauland Responder 5, has been installed in numerous acute care settings across BC, most recently in the Critical Care Tower at Surrey Memorial Hospital. The system will provide enhanced communication abilities for patients, families and the care team and is expected to take until early 2016 to fully implement.

Work within LGH is being planned in phases to minimize disruption to the wards and staff, physicians and patients will be informed ahead of time when there will be impacts on their unit/room.

Once initial investigative work is completed over the next few weeks, the new system will be installed in 2W, giving staff an opportunity to see the system in action before it is rolled out in their area.

The new system has already been installed at Shornecliffe, an assisted living facility in Sechelt and work on installing it in Evergreen House is also recently underway.

There will be more updates on project progress in the coming months as well as opportunities for staff to discuss potential issues with their Program Manager.

    Hi Gary Carr,

The Evergreen House new nurse call system being installed is by ASCOM (recently aquired from General Electric) known as Telligence. They are also installing the system at Cedarview Lodge as well as Evergreen House. Tellegience is similar to the Rauland Responder 5 as they are both nurse call system.

The project manager for the nurse call projects is Sony Bae.

    Thanks,

    Philip Kha, CTech.
