2015 Family Caregivers Fair – VCH Home and Community Care was there!

To kick off BC Family Caregiver Week, the Family Caregivers of BC Society recently held their annual Fair in downtown Vancouver, which provided an excellent platform for the public to learn, connect and share their experiences on caregiving. In addition to our own VCH Home and Community Care team, a number of organizations were there to support the event, including the Alzheimer’s Society of BC, Canadian Cancer Society, Canadian Mental Health Association and BC Centre for Elder Advocacy and Support.

Mary Coleman who is the social work consultant for our Home Hospice Program, gave a presentation about caregiving and end-of-life care at home. Our manager for Home and Community Care at Three Bridges, Heather Wright, also provided an informative talk about VCH Vancouver Community health programs and how to access our services. At the VCH booth, Jason Luey, social work case manager at Pacific Spirit, actively engaged with many caregivers and community partners about practical issues and helped them to link with the appropriate resources they needed.

All in all, the event was a success for everyone and the VCH Vancouver Home and Community Care team look forward to many more opportunities to help provide information and address caregivers’ questions in the years ahead.
