New health care scheduling course

There is a growing demand for qualified scheduling staff in health care. The Regional Scheduling and Timekeeping Department is pleased to offer a unique industry specific scheduling and timekeeping course. Whether you are looking to enhance your scheduling skills for your current role or a new job opportunity as a scheduler within a health care environment, you can achieve this by completing the Regional Scheduling and Timekeeping course at VCH.

Prerequisites

This course is open to all internal and external applicants with previous scheduling experience in healthcare, private or public sector. Interested applicants should have excellent computer skills and will need to pass a critical thinking test administered by VCH Employee Engagement. Successful applicants must be available to attend 8.5 days of training (6.5 days of classroom training and 2 buddy shifts in between).

What can I learn?

  • All five BC healthcare collective agreements;
  • The processes and roles of the Regional Scheduling and Timekeeping Department;
  • How to determine which staff to schedule in place of an absent worker in a complex and non-complex unit or department;
  • How to use Workforce Central ESP (Environment for Scheduling Personnel) computer program which integrates complex union scheduling rules with employee specific data such as accumulated hours and seniority hours.

*Course fee is $300 (includes GST). Course materials provided.
