The Responder: Click the yellow EM triangle

HEMBC is thrilled to announce that the yellow Emergency Management triangle has arrived at VCH! This is a one-stop-shop for information about hospital colour codes, the Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) and Health Incident Command System (HICS), as well as personal preparedness tips and more!

Staff members and physicians at VCH sites no longer need to search VCH Connect for information about emergency preparedness (EP); this simple yellow triangle icon will take you to all the most up-to-date EP material.

Click on the Yellow EM Triangle to locate emergency information and plans for your site.

Providence Health Care has been using the yellow triangle as their portal to PHC’s emergency preparedness plan for about a decade. It has proven to be an effective and efficient way to ensure all staff has easy access to emergency plans.

      Hi Patricia,

HEMBC does regularly work with local emergency supplies vendors to get special discounts for PHC and VCH staff. A list of possible vendors is available on our VCH Connect intranet page under the Personal Emergency Preparedness – Emergency Supply Kits page. This section also contains valuable information on on how to develop a family emergency plan and how to prepare your home for an earthquake. Click on the yellow EM triangle to find this page.

Note: We are currently working with vendors to secure discounts that will be available for the month of October; just in time for the ShakeOut BC drill. More details about this will be published in VCH News and on our website very soon.

      Cheers
