New infection control precaution signs for acute and residential care
New infection control precaution signs are being implemented across acute and residential sites throughout Vancouver Coastal Health beginning November 17, 2015.
The new signs replace all previous airborne, droplet and contact precaution signs and have been redesigned with a uniform style and are more colorful, bold and informative. Design changes were based on feedback from clinicians and visitors.
“Infection control precaution signs are an important part of reducing transmission of infections by providing clear instructions on personal protective equipment and other precautions,” said Craig Pienkowski, infection control practitioner.
Sign replacement
Information packages have already been sent to units with a recommended minimum number of new signs for first print order. Information about the correct use of each sign is included in the packages. Beginning November 17, 2015 please collect and recycle old infection control and isolation signs and distribute the new signs. When ordered through Print Services the signs are printed on polyester so dry-erase marker can be wiped off and the signs re-used.
