LGH and North Shore Health host memorial service for those who’ve experienced pregnancy loss

The Perinatal Services at Lions Gate Hospital and North Shore Health are inviting families who have experienced pregnancy loss (miscarriage, stillbirth and newborn death) to their annual memorial service on Sunday, March 6 at 3 pm at the LGH Chapel.

Families are invited to bring a poem, thoughts, pictures or other meaningful mementos to be included in the Perinatal Remembrance Book.

“The service is for all family members as pregnancy loss (miscarriage, stillbirth, and newborn death) can affect not only parents-to-be, but also siblings as well as grand-parents-to-be and others in the family system,” explains Rev. Andres Rebane, LGH Chaplain.

“It’s OK to take the time to grieve and to remember. Some families like to honour their un-born babies with giving them a name and lighting a candle in memory during the service.”

If you would like to have your baby’s name acknowledged at this service whether you are able to attend or not, please call 604-984-5902. All  who have been touched by this unique loss recently, or in the past, are welcome.

A reception will follow the service.

Please RSVP to Jessica Dragojevich at Jessica.Dragojevich@vch.ca or by calling 604-984-5902.
