Construction in VGH Sassafrass Cafeteria

As part of a project to build a state-of-the-art hybrid operating room at VGH, construction in the Sassafrass Cafeteria of Jim Pattison (JP) Pavilion is underway.

Part of the cafeteria seating area will be inaccessible to allow for the building of a new Family Room, Counselling Room and men’s and women’s  washrooms. When the new Family Room is complete, the existing Family Room located inside the cafeteria will be demolished in July 2016 and replaced by a realigned corridor. Visitors may continue to use the current Family Room or ICU Waiting Room while the new Family Room is built.

Extensive measures meeting Hospital CSA Infection Control standards will be in place during construction. To minimize noise and inconvenience, the most disruptive demolition work will be scheduled after 4:30 pm daily. However, noise and vibration will be unavoidable and should be expected within the cafeteria from April 2 to May 1, with ongoing construction noise through to July 30, 2016. Those working on the floors above and below may be impacted as sound and vibration will carry.

Thank you in advance for your understanding and patience during renovations.
