Coastal staff offered April 20th emergency training opportunity
Emergency and disaster events aren’t uncommon here in Coastal, with parts of our region prone to natural events such as flooding and wildfires on top of human-caused events such as vehicle accidents and spills.
To help prepare staff to manage during these events, Health Emergency Management has arranged a free, introductory course on the Emergency Operations Centre (EOC). The course is recommended for Emergency Management Workgroup members for both acute and community care as well as site leaders, managers and administrative assistants and is designed to give participants a basic understanding of:
- The emergency response management system used by the Health Sector within British Columbia
- The purpose and organizational structure of an Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) as well as common activities – such as communication flows – and processes used
- Responsibilities for the primary functions within a health sector EOC
The course is taking place:
When: Tuesday, April 20 9 am – 12:30 pm
Where: Evergreen Boardroom (LGH campus).
