On the road again—Adventures in accreditation

Team Accreditation, aka the A-Team has been on the road – and water, and air – to places far and near throughout VCH.

A recent day trip to Sechelt Hospital leading “mock tracers” in Obstetrics, Perioperative services, Medicine, medication management, sterile device reprocessing, and ambulatory cancer care was all in  a day’s work for the visiting team as well as for those on the ground at the hospital. As we say for Accreditation, “it’s what we do every day.”

“I love how each team lives patient and family centred care in their daily practice,” said Serena Bertoli-Haley, accreditation and patient/client satisfaction leader.

The “A-Team” visited Shorncliffe long term care on April 18, conducting mock tracers in Infection Control, Medication Management and Long Term Care at the care facility. Lunch in the kitchen smelled good!

“We saw lots of evidence of teams across the continuum being real advocates for the patient populations and local communities that they serve,” added Serena.

About Accreditation 2016

The Accreditation survey visit is September 18-23, 2016. All of VCH will participate together in its first health-authority-wide survey visit covering the full continuum of care across all of the communities of care.

Thank you for the encouraging comments! This is by far my favourite part of accreditation prep, and I’m sure I speak for the whole A-Team when I say that it is an honour and a privilege to meet so many people from all over VCH, be a guest into their lives, and get to see their creativity, resourcefulness and dedication to providing great care every day.
    Way to go!

As one of the “A-Team” members I’m always so very happy to hit the road and connect in person with staff, physicians and patients at all of our Coastal sites – rural, remote and urban. It makes my work feel more real, involved and meaningful. I love that we create the relationships in person where we can work hard and tackle issues (easy and tough) with trust and shared commitment to getting things done. And I always leave the visit feeling regret that I’ve got to move on, and feeling inspired by some innovative new idea or another that I observed while visiting the team and their site(s).
We’ve got great teams at all of our sites. It’s nice that Accreditation preparations give us an opportunity to show our humble selves off a bit more! 🙂

    Go Team Go!

We need to have visitors every once in awhile, Gives an opportunity to show off what we do, motivate us to clean up some of the things we have been putting off.

    Thanks A-Team

This is so very nice. Imagine it is difficult, intensive, but rewarding for the A-TEAM. Thank you dear for sending this.
