Introducing our newest Experienced Resource Nurse Team!
Our newest cross-site ERNT team for Sea to Sky (Whistler and Pemberton), Squamish and Lions Gate Hospital started orientation on August 11 and unit buddy shifts on August 17! The new team recently gathered for a meet and greet/welcome session to kick off their classroom orientation which will help prepare them for their new clinical leadership/mentorship role.
Once comfortable and established in their new role, ERNs will provide relief for frontline nurses while supporting and mentoring unit staff across multiple designated units. If you work with the new ERNs, please be sure to welcome them on your unit and provide the same level of support that you would provide to any new staff member.
The benefits
The ERNT program benefits us all by providing increased support and mentorship for new and existing staff, experienced relief on units and generational handover as our more experienced staff move into ERN roles. This means better care for patients and more career advancing opportunities for nurses.
Accepting applications for next intake
It’s not too late to join the Coastal ERNT; we are accepting applications now for our next intake! Five years’ experience is required to become a ERN, and training is provided during orientation.
If you are interested to apply for the ERNT or have any questions about this unique opportunity, please contact Toni Robinson, Recruitment Advisor, at 604-675-2500 ext. 21980 or email Toni.Robinson@vch.ca.

Learn why Farinah loves being an Experienced Resource Nurse. “Some people think that working on 11 units could feel uprooting, but for me it’s the opposite. Most people only get the benefit of one work family, but I get 11. The staff is welcoming and always ready to help,” said Farinah, ERN at VGH.
