VCH Vancouver commemorates International Overdose Awareness Day with moment of silence
On Thursday, August 31, VCH Vancouver staff, physicians and senior leaders gathered together for a moment of silence to commemorate the over 1,300 mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, friends and loved ones across BC who have been lost or injured as a result of an overdose and to acknowledge the far reaching impact this incredible loss has had on our communities, clients, colleagues, and ourselves.
Those gathered at Vancouver Community offices at 520 West 6th, at the administration offices at VGH, at sites in the DTES and across Vancouver reflected upon these realities while also recognizing the tireless commitment and resilience of our VCH staff who have played a critical role in preventing additional overdose deaths and saving lives.
