Celebrating our Community Health Workers
The North Shore’s Community Health Care (CHW) workers gathered for a special celebration on Wednesday to celebrate Health Care Assistants (HCA) Day. The Government of B.C. proclaimed Oct. 18 as Health Care Assistant Day in 2012 to recognize the frontline service that health care assistants (in VCH they are called Community Health Workers) provide for seniors and others in care.
CHWs provide support and protection that help our clients remain independent and active in their homes and in their communities. To meet the needs of an increasingly aging population, committed and dedicated health-care assistants are there to maintain the comfort and quality of care provided.
Joining them at the special tea at the Central Community Health Centre on Esplanade in North Vancouver was Karin Olson, COO-Coastal, and Sujata Connors, Director Home & Community Care.
