BC Health Care Awards nominations now open!

Nominations are now open for the 2018 BC Health Care Awards. Presented by the Health Employers Association of BC (HEABC), the awards celebrate excellence and innovation in BC health care, and recognize people and teams who provide outstanding care and support.

The awards

More than 200 Gold Apples and Awards of Merit have been awarded to health care employees over the past eleven years, including front line professionals and those who work behind the scenes.

Awards are for projects improving health care delivery and for individuals making a positive impact and inspiring those around them. Award categories are: Top Innovation, Workplace Health Innovation, Collaborative Solutions, Dianna Mah-Jones Award of Excellence in Person-Centred Care and Health Care Heroes (8 awards in total).

New this year: Dianna Mah-Jones Award of Excellence in Person-Centred Care

Named in honour of Dianna Mah-Jones, our former VCH staff member and Provincial Health Care Hero, this award is for a team or project that makes use of leading practices to improve care for patients, residents or clients by focusing on the needs of the person rather than the needs of the system or service. Successful nominations will show how the team or project partners with patients, clients or residents to co-design and deliver health care that is respectful of the needs, values and preferences of individuals. What a lovely tribute it would be to Dianna, to have a member of the VCH family be the inaugural recipient of this award.
