Dispose bags and containers with biohazard symbols as biomedical waste.
What: Put all empty, damaged and unused containers and bags with a biohazard symbol in the biomedical waste bin. Don’t dispose them in garbage or recycling bins.
Why: Workers at the garbage waste transfer stations and landfills end up stopping operations because of misplaced biomedical waste. Even clean, empty, damaged or unused, bags and containers with hazard symbols cause concern for those handling the waste.
Risk: Hospitals could be fined or banned from the garbage disposal facilities for misplacing these materials.
