Communicating an organization’s strategy is important, but does it have to be so darned boring? Enter this new 6-minute video (below). It’s part of a communication effort that will be rolling out across VCH in the coming weeks and months. If you haven’t seen the video yet, check it out right now and then answer these six survey questions.
Communicating our goals with True North
I like True North because “providing the best care” is at the centre, our people are at the foundation, and everything fits together and points in one direction. All four goals, working together and supported by putting people first. The senior leaders and I needed a way to communicate the True North Goals to staff at all levels, without putting anyone to sleep. So a few weeks ago, with help from the Communications & Public Affairs team, we put together a communications program that includes the above video, posters like the examples below and most importantly, tools and resources for leaders to help them use the True North Goals and share them with their teams.
Why now?
As I walked around the organization, our managers, directors and front line staff were using the True North Goals spontaneously, but with some variation, without any formal roll-out. An organization’s goals are more than just words on paper, they are a focus, a collective end state we can all contribute to–a context for the work that we do. I felt it was time to rededicate ourselves to these goals and be more clear in their communication to the organization
What next?
