Thank you to the 1,039 respondents from VCH, FH, PHSA, and PHC that provided feedback on the elevators in your site, via the ‘Health Care Elevator Survey’, in December!
Cyrus Dastoor, the Program Administrative Assistant for Vancouver Home Hospice with VCH Palliative care, is our winner, picked at random from the 1,039 survey respondents.
About the survey
The Facilities Maintenance and Operations Department created this survey in order to gather valuable feedback from health care staff on elevator services across the Lower Mainland Health Organizations.
The feedback and information gathered will be used to understand the reliability, as well as any risks associated with elevators in the Lower Mainland. From here a risk and asset management program will be built to improve the safety and reliability of all elevators.
The program aims to reduce any risk to staff and patients that might be caused by to an elevator failure (i.e. critical patient being trapped in an elevator). Overall, elevators are a piece of equipment that affects everyone at the Health Authorities, from medical staff to patient food vendors, from corporate staff to patients. Elevators are a critical piece of equipment in hospitals, as they transport patients from helicopters to wards, move patients to intensive care units, or pregnant mothers from the parkade to the delivery room. In each and every case, elevators need to function properly, ensuring they do not leave anyone stranded in a vulnerable situation.
Elevator maintenance has been outsourced by (as it is across BC) for the past 10+ years. The feedback gathered in this survey gives the LM FMO team information on whether this maintenance is ensuring adequate performance, according to the actual users of the elevators. This information will also be used to improve future service contracts as the LM FMO team will have a better understanding of what is important to the users of the equipment.
All feedback on the elevators in your site will be used to improve the service. Thank you.
