Performers, families and friends braved the challenging road conditions to join the clients at the 3rd annual Holly Jolly Concert on December 19. A showcase of talent from staff, a former client and friends of GFS provided a diverse evening of laughter and delight.
The Social Work group, decked in festive headgear, led off with their GF version of “Twas The Night Before Christmas”.
Razzmatap, whose members range in age from 42 to 83, provided a riotous perspective of women’s liberation from the 1920s to present day with their number Sister Suffragette—4 costume changes in 5 minutes!
The Allied Choir, with piano accompaniment from Dr. Rhonda Willms, sang the special carols GF Wonderland and 12 Days of a GF Strong Christmas. Ryan Keogh, just in from Kingston, entertained us with his guitar and vocals. Riley Inge, a client from 3 years ago, crooned the audience with his velvet baritone and offered words of encouragement and inspiration.
The flash ending featured Nigel Kam in his debut as a songwriter and performer doing a parody of Gangnam Style with his peeps. Ian Denison, emcee, masterfully juggled the “organic” program and regaled the audience with his man drawer stories.
Many thanks to all the performers, to Mark Houlden, Shannon Gibney, Scott Dirom and Richard Jones and
Housekeeping for room set-up and crowd control, and a special thanks to Adele and Bill MacNeill and Mateo Di Ioro for the audio visual support. The giving of their time and talents was a priceless gift of joy for all the attendees.
