At the forum you will discover how surgeons and ER doctors are applying the latest research in their professional practices and learn more about how this research affects you.

Presenting at the event are leaders in Surgery and Emergency Medicine research, including Dr. Corinne Hohl, Emergency Physician at VGH and researcher with VCH Research Institute, Dr. Cindy Verchere from Child & Family Research Institute, and Dr. Sam Wiseman from Providence Health Care Research Institute.
Dr. Hohl will be presenting on “Adverse drug events in the emergency department: Why they matter to you and me.” Adverse events related to medication use have been recognized as a leading cause of emergency department visits, ambulatory care and unplanned hospital admissions. Dr. Hohl will discuss how emergency departments may play a critical role in improving care for patients experiencing adverse drug events and how data collected may be used to more safely and effectively prescribe medications – ultimately reducing adverse drug events and improving health outcomes for Canadians.
