Cristina Ciccone and Rebecca Rafael have both been working as senior therapists with the Employee and Family Assistance Program (EFAP) for over a decade.
They seem passionate about their role in supporting the overall health and well being of those who dedicate so much of themselves to the care of others.
“With our very experienced team of colleagues, I feel privileged to contribute quality intervention and support for employees and their families, in a way that is meaningful,” says Ciccone.
Over the years, EFAP has seen significant growth with employees throughout the Lower Mainland – and from remote areas in the province – having access to the many, great services. These include in-house sessions, telephone sessions and teleconferencing, e-mail therapy, critical incident stress debriefing and mediation.
“I’m particularly excited about the Beating the Blues interactive computer-based program,” says Rafael, “as well as our partnership with the Financial Literacy Council and the LifeHub online resource service. They’re all such great resources.”
“The team is very committed to ongoing professional development,” says Marie-Helene Pelletier, director of EFAP. “It allows them to expand their knowledge base and areas of interest and expertise, to take even better care of those giving care.”
Particularly meaningful for Rebecca and Cristina, has been the growing integration between mainstream psychology and mindfulness and mind and body practices. These contributions are considered cutting edge for best practice, particularly for the treatment of depression, anxiety, addictions, eating disorders and trauma.
