Nursing: A leading force for change

Day to day, nursing makes a difference and helps to improve the lives of others. Nursing is a profession with high standards and a strong sense of public service. It is a rich and varied profession that allows nurses to work across the continuum of care and in all phases of life. These nurses are advocates, teachers, mentors, researchers, consultants, mediators, and more importantly change agents and innovators who influence and facilitate change within the healthcare landscape.

At VCH, there are over 5,861 Registered Nurses and 283 Registered Psychiatric Nurses on staff, along with 991 Licensed Practical Nurses and over 1,805 Care Aides. Please join us in celebrating nursing’s valuable contributions during National Nursing Week.

About National Nursing Week

National Nursing Week was started to celebrate the nursing profession. Nursing week is traditionally held near the birth date of Florence Nightingale (May 12th).  In 2013, this event will run for the week of May 6-12th.  This event provides a great opportunity to celebrate and thank nurses for the great work they do every day at Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH). Learn more about National Nursing Week on the Canadian Nursing Association website, www.cna-aiic.ca.

Nursing Week Celebration Events  at VCH May 6-12

To acknowledge the important role nursing plays within VCH, we have organized a number of celebration events. View or print the event schedule or visit Professional Practice’s nursing site on VCH Connect.
