Congratulations to the 2012-2013 graduating class of VCH Dietetic Interns!
They completed their internship placement with VCH based out of Vancouver General Hospital on June 21, 2013. The Dietetic Internship Program at VCH is run in partnership with the UBC Dietetics Program. It is a fully accredited comprehensive dietetic internship program with the Dietitians of Canada. The 7 dietetic interns completed the 39-week program in clinical nutrition, food service administration, community nutrition and practice based research. Clinical dietitians from VGH, Richmond Hospital, Lions Gate Hospital, GF Strong Rehab Centre, UBC Hospital and BC Children’s and Women’s Health Centre provide learning opportunities and clinical instruction for the dietetic interns. Community dietitians from Vancouver Community are also actively involved in the program as are the Sodexo Food Service Managers.
Two practice based research projects were completed by the interns. The projects were titled – “A description of total parenteral nutrition administration practices in patients admitted under Vancouver General Hospital’s General Surgery Services” and “A Cross-Sectional Nutrition Risk Assessment Amongst a Convenience Sample of Children in the Sea-to-Sky Corridor”
The next class of dietetic interns begins on Sept 9, 2013 and they will complete the program in June 2014.
