What do baby belugas have to do with public health policy?

Raffi! You may fondly remember Raffi, the children’s musician, who sings “Baby Beluga” and “Down by the Bay”. Raffi is a part of the Public Health Association of BC’s 2013 regional fall conference, and you can be a part of it.

This year’s conference theme will focus on the international approach of Health in All Policies. Since most of the activities that contribute to the health of societies and communities are generated outside of the health care system itself, sessions will focus on the development of a broad, integrated, intersectoral approaches to health. This means public health works across government sectors and moves beyond government, recognizing that policies and practices in the private and voluntary sectors are equally important to health.

Support fellow VCH staff Susan Conley, a manager in Community Health in Vancouver; and Margaret Broughton, a nutritionist at Parkgate Community Health Centre, who will be presenting at the conference.

Raffi Cavoukian will be a part of a public event to commemorate Clyde Hertzman and his work in early childhood development.
