Caught clean handed
What’s scarier than a room full of zombies, vampires and a Miley Cyrus themed costume party?
Nasty germs that cause the flu, norovirus, C. difficile, MRSA and more…That’s why today, we’re starting to crack down on cowboys and gals across VCH blazing the hand hygiene trail. They wrangle germs with soap, sanitizer and a 30 second song. Are you next?
But seriously, we wanted to celebrate people across VCH who are taking the time to do the easiest thing we can all do to protect ourselves and our patients from nasty germs – wash our hands.
We need your help to get to 100%
We’ve all read the signs, watched the videos and know the importance of hand hygiene. And it shows. Our hand hygiene rates are improving. Last year the compliance rate for VCH/PHC was 71% an increase from 69% in the previous year. But we still have some work to do before we reach our goal of 100%.
So we’re launching Caught Clean Handed to celebrate everyone’s hard work and to keep the momentum going.
See who’s been caught in the act
Dr Lee Graham, VGH ED, is just the first in a long list of hand hygiene cowboys and gals who will be featured in the next few months. Hand hygiene auditors will recognize staff across VCH on large posters appearing on units, in stories here in VCH news and on a computer screen near you.
You could be next…
