Have you completed your mandatory online courses?
Earlier this year, the VCH Senior Executive Team approved the Mandatory Education policy which sets out the criteria for completion of courses that have been designated mandatory for all employees. If you haven’t already completed the required courses, please check with your manager or supervisor for the best time to complete these courses. It is important that all staff complete the mandatory education to meet our commitment of providing a healthy and safe environment for patients, clients, residents and staff.
In the next few weeks, education compliance associates from Employee Engagement will be following up with you to ensure that you have completed the WSBC mandated courses. WSBC Online mandatory courses are accessible via the VCH Course Catalogue Registration System (CCRS). If you do not already have a VCH employee account on CCRS, you will be asked to create one before you continue on to the courses. This is to ensure your successful completion of the courses can be recorded.
Required courses
All new and existing managers, directors, and supervisors:
- Occupational Health and Safety for Leaders (includes Provincial Incident Investigation (2 hours)
- Annually thereafter: Occupational Health and Safety Refresher for Manager/Supervisors (Online 20 minutes)
Employees in Mental Health and Addictions and other High Risk areas:
- Workplace Violence Prevention Online modules and classroom courses (upon hire) which are coordinated by Workplace Health. For questions about eligibility for this program, please contact Helen Tam, Manager, Safety and Prevention Services, Workplace Health. (approx 4 hours)
All new hires to VCH in any role:
- Regional Orientation Online (a special link for this course is sent to you by your recruitment associate) and Meet & Greet session. Once compliance is achieved on the WSBC mandated courses, the compliance associates will follow up on: Senior Executive Team Mandated Courses – accessible via the VCH Course Catalogue Registration System (CCRS)
All new managers including newly hired managers and employees who were previously working in a non-manager role at VCH:
- New Manager Orientation Online (1 hour) and a one day classroom course
All full-time, part-time, and casual VCH employees (with retake period of every two years):
- Infection Prevention and Control (if you are a clinical point of care employee or a physician) (30 minutes) OR Hand Hygiene Basics (if you are an employee who does not work with patients) (6 minutes)
- Confidentiality Undertaking (10 minutes) Please note that this list does not cover or negate additional training requirements in specific departments or programs.
