Increase to criminal record check fee

Recent Changes to Criminal Records Review Act were passed on March 14, 2013 in order to increase efficiency for clients. The Ministry has increased the fee for a criminal record check from $20 to $28 after November 30, 2013. The fee increase is equivalent to just $1.60 per year.

This change will be seamless for those who elected to provide the employer with ongoing consent for a criminal record recheck. We will continue to accept the consent form we have on file as authorization to proceed with withdrawing the new fee of $28 at the time of your recheck as required by the new legislation – unless you inform us otherwise. The forms you previously submitted indicate that the authorization for ongoing consent shall continue until cancelled by written notification.

We appreciate your cooperation with the recent changes to the Criminal Records Review Act and associated recheck fee increase.  We will continue to keep you informed of any other changes to the process as mandated by the B.C. Government.
