Flu vaccine availability

There has been a lot of chatter about the flu this season and vaccine availability. Immunization clinics began in October 2013, and now, since we’re close to the end of the immunization campaign, vaccine supply isn’t as widespread.

If you have clients/patients inquiring about vaccine, let them know that they may need to call around to find a location (family doctor, a walk-in clinic, pharmacy) still offering vaccine. They should check in with their public health unit; if they are out, they can check again the following week as we may be getting more vaccine next week.

If clients can’t locate a dose of publicly funded vaccine anywhere, including public health, several pharmacies are still selling private vaccine at a nominal fee.

VCH Public Health has organized several public clinics this week in Vancouver. For details access the VCH website.
