When does my VCH Photo ID/Access Card Expire?
In 2009, a process was implemented across Vancouver Coastal Health to follow security best practices around Photo ID and Access.
“All employee photo IDs and access cards expire after 5 years in the same manner as passports and drivers licenses. Once expired, the photo IDs should no longer be recognized as valid ID by on-site security and other personnel. In addition, all card access is suspended by the system immediately upon expiry of the card.
Following expiry of their cards, cardholders are required to obtain a new replacement photo ID and access card. This includes having a new photo taken. The expired ID/access card must be returned to the Photo ID office”
–Lower Mainland Consolidated Photo ID and Access Control Standards and Guidelines
When will my ID expire?
If you notice that your VCH Photo ID does not currently have a set expiration date, your ID is likely set to expire some time this year. Cards printed after 2009 now include an expiration date below the Disaster Response Route symbol.
Stop by the Photo ID office located at the basement level of Doctor’s Residence, 2775 Heather Street, Room 17 to get a new picture taken and be issued a new Photo ID. Our hours of operations are Monday to Friday, 8am to 12pm and 1pm to 3:30pm.
Also, remember to check your Photo ID periodically to ensure that the expiration date has not passed.
