New sessions look at eldercare systems and issues in B.C.
According to Statistics Canada, eight million of us will be over the age of 65 by 2031. That’s nearly 25 per cent of the population and a growing number are reporting abuse (seven per cent of older adults report some form of emotional and financial abuse)[i]. In recognition and support of World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, June 15th please attend the upcoming Taking Care of Me session:
Eldercare Planning & Understanding Financial Elder Abuse
With an aging population in Canada, the challenges associated with eldercare planning and financial abuse are on the rise. Whether you are concerned about yourself, your parents, or are on the frontlines of geriatric eldercare, this session will provide you with an overview of:
- How the eldercare systems work and how to access them in BC.
- The cost of eldercare, housing options and coping with changes in your parents or spouse.
- How to prevent and deal with financial elder abuse.
