Google Chrome — our newest web browser
As of tomorrow morning, all staff with Windows XP will have the quicker Google Chrome installed on their computers for their online searching needs.
Google Chrome is a fast, simple, and secure secondary web browser that will allow VCH users to best view websites that are built on more current web platforms. Right now, many of these sites are inaccessible or “look strange” when you try to view them using our standard Microsoft-based web browsers.
Google Chrome is not intended for use as a replacement for our standard Microsoft-based web browsers for accessing business and/or clinical applications. However, it is the best browser to view sites such as:
- VCH.ca;
- Up For Discussion;
- and of course, VCH News.
You must continue to use Internet Explorer 6 (IE6), our standard web browser, for accessing our main clinical and business applications.
If you already have the full version of Google Chrome you will not have a new version deployed onto your workstation, which means there will be no impact to your existing bookmarks.
If, for some reason, you don’t see the Google Chrome icon on your workstation, please contact the Service Desk and they will ensure it’s downloaded.
For more information on Google Chrome there is an FAQ available on VCH Connect.
